Also, I would like to address the ongoing comments shared by children's parents who are not a part of PTA. Nor have these parents been involved in the past for a variety of reasons, mostly work related. You do not have to attend all the meetings to be a voice in PTA. There are other ways in which you can be a great influence in your child's educational experience. PTA is an organization which works with you (the Parent), teachers and the school district to provide a more positive educational experience for everyone including your child. We help sponsor activities which enrich the educational process for all CHILDREN who attend Brattain and try to do it in a way that INCLUDES EACH child regardless of social economic status. Through your membership dues we are a greater voice when it comes to issues related to your child's future. Please if you have questions regarding PTA you can all me at 505-8305 or e-mail at howardagency@aol.com . Each and every voice counts here at Brattain PTA. Let us work together to create a valuable

Book Fair is April 16, 17 and 21
Mark your calendars for this year's Book Fair: April 16, 17 and 21.
Once again this year, you can buy one book, and get another for free. The Book Fair will be open from 8:30-4 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, April 16 and 17, and from 8:30 to noon on Monday, April 21. Also, the fair will be open from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 17 for Spring into Reading Night.

Just a reminder that our next PTA Meeting will be May 8th. The full agenda will be posted by May 1st however, voting for the new board will be the primary focus.

Vice president - Rebekah Waldorf and Paula Applegate
Secretary - Lindy Cabales
Treasurer - Jennifer Merrill and Brandie Davies
One person will need to be elected for each position at the next General PTA meeting on May 8th. These nominations, and any others taken from the floor the night of the meeting will be considered by the general membership present. Any nominations from the floor must be present to accept the nomination. Those listed above have already accepted and need not be present to be elected. So if you've change your mind, you'd better come to the meeting to decline your nomination or you could be voted in!! :)

There are also several chair position for things like: Membership, Volunteer coordinator, Harvest carnival, Bingo, Legislation, Family Programs, Reflections (art program),... Treasurer opening
Brattain's PTA has an opening for the board position of treasurer. This position is responsible for keeping an up-to-date record of the PTA's financial accounts, paying bills and making deposits in a timely manner, among other duties. If you are interested in this position, please contact PTA President Jay Thornhill at 654-0358, or email brattainpta@gmail.com. The treasurer will be elected at the March 18 general membership meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the library.

Treasure Box fundraiser
Starting this month, we will be starting a fun new fundraiser:
Two Treasure Boxes — one for the first through third grades and one for the fourth and fifth grades — will rotate among the classrooms that bring in the most box tops and soup labels. The Treasure Boxes are full of games and surprises. The winning classes will recieve the Treasure Boxes for one month.
This fundraiser helps raise money for playground equipment, books for students and more.
Thank you for your support!
